I think one of the hardest things to do for many people, is to pick up the phone and actually phone in, someone. When things are hard, when you feel alone, when you are feeling like the world is caving in. It’s always important to phone in, the Lord. This should be your first go to. Sometimes we just need to sit there for a moment and not panic. Pick up the spiritual phone and call on God. It’s so easy to run to people. People will fail you, they may even give you advice that isn’t of much help. People can be intentional. When we are vulnerable, we tend to divulge way too much information to Untrusted sources.
If God has blessed you with a circle of good people, my suggestion is you go to the Lord first and you ask for discernment, on who you should share yourself with. There are people that will thrive off of your weakness and so you must be careful. God never thrives in your weakness. He sees your weakness and makes you stronger. Isaiah 40:29-31: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak".
The phone will always be there, sometimes what we like to do is pick up the receiver and just talk without listening. It’s OK to talk, but it’s better to listen. Instead of running to people this time around, take a minute and go to God first and listen. We get our hearts, broken by going to other people and when they use the information that we have given them, making it into a gossip fest, we get hurt, because God did not tell us to go to the person we went to. We have to use our discernment.
Jesus is waiting for you to pick up the phone, He’s right on the other end.
