Social media can be so deceiving sometimes. We give off a look at me, I have it all together, I am so perfect, my family has a perfect little life, look at us!
Why do we do that? Why do we, show off a fantasy? Perhaps we do this because we are to embarrassed for people to really see our true life? It’s so hard when you hold a high standard, a high expectation on yourselves. What if instead of keeping up with this false life we create we actually live outside of the fantasy we created? It’s not that bad I promise. I’m not saying bear all your business on social media, or tell it all. No way. Protect your home.
What I am saying is, it’s ok to be real. “Today, was a hard day. My family and I can use some prayers, I don’t need questions, I just need prayers.” Imagine a world where we become real? We can actually reach out to one another and check in? The mandate is so heavy on leaders, to bear it all would be detrimental to many. It’s ok to reach out to another peer and say “Hey, I’m struggling, can we pray?” Find your core group and reach out.
It’s ok to show, your home is not so perfect, what you see is what you get. As a leader, I don’t have all the answers. What I do know is that no one has a perfect life. Not as perfect as social media shows you. Don’t idol what you see, your home is your home and you can make it your perfect little home outside of social media. Embrace what God has given you.
